The scanning functions can be used to temporarily store the scanned data in the internal memory of the machine and transmit the data in an e-mail message over the network or up- load the data to a file server.

The FTP server ad- dress, login password, and other information are entered from the touch panel of this machine. The data files uploaded to the FTP server can be downloaded from a com- puter on the network. The name of the destination computer, login password, and other informa- tion are entered from the touch panel of this machine. The data can be used in other applications.

The file name can be entered from the touch panel of the machine. Set other items as necessary. Page Setting The From Address Detail For details on registering destinations and specifying settings, refer to the sections listed below.

The From address is the address that indicates the sender when data is sent. Specifying Program Settings The destination and scan settings can be registered together as a single pro- gram.

This is convenient for frequently scanning documents and sending data under the same conditions. Reminder The machine can be connected via a parallel or USB connection option- al.

However, be sure to connect to the network to use the scanner func- tion. Network Connection Connect a UTP cable category 5 or later recommended from the network to the Ethernet connector on the machine.

Page Scanning Documents Scanning Documents While the machine is in Power Save mode, the indicator on the [Power Save] key lights up in green and the touch panel goes off. This key is not used in scanner mode. Use to type in various values. Press to erase a value such as the number of a zoom ratio, or a size entered using the keypad. Annotation Application When saving a scanned document, add the preset domain name, sequence number, date, and time, and then save the document in a box. Page 98 Scanning Documents Select the saving destination for the annotation user box.

Page Settings On The Control Panel Settings on the Control Panel The Utility mode is used to specify basic settings for using the machine and specifications for advanced functions.

This chapter explains how to set the scanner functions as well as utility func- tions related to the network. Utility Types Creates a filing number box. Specifies basic settings to use the machine on a network. Page Other Related Settings Other Related Settings Though the setup procedure is not covered in this manual, there are items that are partially related to the scanning functions and network connection.

For [1 One- Touch Registration], press the [1] key in the keypad. Page The Scan screen appears. Otherwise, cancel the Utility mode by touching [Close] in each screen until the screen for the Copy, Fax, Scan or Box mode appears. The Administrator Setting screen appears. Up to destinations can be registered when the optional hard disk drive is installed, and up to des- tinations can be registered if the optional hard disk drive is not installed.

E-Mail Destinations E-mail addresses can be registered. Touch [Index] and touch the desired button. The Register FTP screen appears.

Touch [Name] and type in the name using the keyboard that appears on the screen. Touch [OK]. Touch [Host Address]. Touch [File Path] and type in the file path using the keyboard that ap- pears on the screen. If the first character of the name is a letter, the first character is auto- matically registered as the indexing character.

Detail To check the registered destination, touch the button for the destination, and then touch [Check Setting]. To change the registered destination settings, touch the button for the desired destination, and then touch [Edit].

In the Scan screen, touch [1 Address Book]. Refer to page for more details. Touch [3 SMB]. The SMB screen appears. Touch [New].

The Register SMB screen appears. If the value was incorrectly entered, press the [C] clear key to erase the value, and then use the keypad to type in the cor- rect value. Page Specifying Settings From the Control Panel — If the first character of the name is a letter, the first character is au- tomatically registered as the indexing character. The Box destinations can be used when the optional hard disk drive is installed. Touch [4 User Box]. The User Box screen appears.

Up to groups can be registered. Up to destinations can be regis- tered to one group. To register a group destination In the Scan screen, touch [2 Group]. Refer to page for more de- tails. The Group screen appears. The group destination is registered. Only one destination can be regis- tered in a program.

Up to destinations can be registered in program des- tinations, including fax program destinations. If the optional hard disk drive is not installed, up to destinations can be registered. To register a program destination In the Scan screen, touch [3 Program]. Page Note To cancel changes to the setting, touch [Cancel].

Subject E-Mail subjects can be registered. Touch [1 Subject]. Detail To check the registered setting, touch the button for the desired subject, and then touch [Details]. To delete the registered setting, touch the button for the desired subject, and then touch [Delete]. The settings that were registered when the data was sent can be selected.

Touch [2 Text]. Detail To check the registered setting, touch the button for the desired text, and then touch [Details]. To delete the registered setting, touch the button for the desired text, and then touch [Delete]. Touch [Address Book Default Index]. Touch [Address Type Symbol Display].

Touch the button for the desired setting. Touch [Black Compression Level]. The type of lists that can be output are described below. Select the registration number, and then touch [Print]. Select the registration number and destination type, and then touch [Print]. Select the paper size, and simplex or duplex printing, and then press [Start] key. Note Register the annotation user boxes from the Administrator Setting screen.

Item Description Displays the job ID number that is assigned when a job is registered.

Touch [Name] and type in the name using the keyboard that appears on the screen. Touch [OK]. Page Specifying Settings From the Control Panel Note If the port number is set to an inappropriate value, there may be interfer- ence in the network.

Do not change the port number unless specifically requested by the network administrator. Touch [3 SMB]. The SMB screen appears. The Register SMB screen appears. If the value was incorrectly entered, press the [C] clear key to erase the value, and then use the keypad to type in the cor- rect value.

UP to destinations can be registered in the Program destinations including the Fax program destinations.

If no optional hard disk is installed, up to destinations can be registered. To register a program destination In the Scan screen, touch [3 Program]. Page Specifying Settings From the Control Panel — To select from registered destinations: Check that [Select from Address Book] is selected, touch the but- ton for the desired destination type, and then select the destina- tions to be registered. Subject E-Mail subjects can be registered.

Touch [1 Subject]. Detail To check the registered setting, touch the button for the desired subject, and then touch [Details]. To change the registered setting, touch the button for the desired sub- ject, and then touch [Edit]. The settings that were registered when the data was sent can be selected. Touch [2 Text]. Page Specifying Settings From the Control Panel Detail To check the registered setting, touch the button for the desired text, and then touch [Details].

Ethernet Frame Type Sets the frame type that is used for communications. Use the keyboard that appears in the touch panel to type in the NDS tree name up to 63 characters. Touch [Fwd. Specify the desired settings. The NetWare settings are applied. Status The status of the connected NetWare server can be verified. Support Operation Sets the operation support information. Support Operation Specify the response to an inquiry of whether each function is supported in IPP communications. Touch [Printer Name].

The Printer Name screen appears. Type in the printer name up to characters. The printer location is set, the Printer Information screen appears again. Touch [Printer Information]. The printer information is set, the Printer Information screen appears again.

The Print URI screen appears. The FTP settings are applied. If the port number is set to an inappropriate value, there may be interfer- ence in the network. The SMB settings are applied. Note To cancel changes to the setting, touch [Cancel]. Printer Name Sets the name of this machine that appears on the Apple- Talk network.

Search settings can also be specified. The LDAP function is set. If the LDAP server settings are not specified correctly, network failure may occur. The selected condition is set. Use the keyboard that appears in the touch panel to type in the name up to 64 characters. The LDAP server registration and authentication are set. The available authentication methods are as follows: Item Description [anonymous] An authentication method that does not require the user name and password [Simple] A simple authentication method that requires the user In addition, authentication settings for logging on to the STMP server can be specified.

The SMTP server information is set. Enter the host address IP address 1. The User ID screen appears. Type in the user ID up to 63 characters. The Domain Name screen appears. Type in the domain name up to characters. Page Pop Server Address Specifying Settings From the Control Panel Reminder To apply network setting changes, turn off the main power of the ma- chine, wait 10 seconds, and then turn the machine on again.

Network Speed Sets the network speed. The device information is set. The status notification is sent if the e-mail address is entered and if any of the notification conditions are selected. The fol- lowing tabs are displayed in User mode. The menu that appears differs depending on the tab that is selected. Type in the administrator password, and then click the [Login]. The Administrator mode page appears. To return to User mode, click [Logout].

In addition, the following problems may occur when the cache is used. The Scan tab appears only when registrations by users are permitted. Abbreviated destinations can be edited or registered. Index Select the search word for searching destinations. Host Address Enter the host name or the IP address of the destination computer up to characters. Temporary destinations can be registered. The details of the settings are the same as those for program registra- tions. Note To specify a temporary destination that was registered, touch [Index List], then [Temporary One-Touch] in the control panel, and then select a des- tination.

Up to 10 subjects that can be used when sending e-mail can be registered. Select the subject number you wish to register or edit. Up to 10 text messages that can be used when sending e-mail can be reg- istered.

Enter the text, and click [Apply]. Select whether or not NTP is enabled. If address book registration by users is disabled, the address book registration menu appears.

Importing Click [Browse Exporting Click [Export]. User Setting Specify whether to permit destination registration by users. Manual Destination Input Specify whether to permit manual entry of the addresses. Speed Specify the transmission speed. Access restrictions can be applied by specifying the host IP address. Frame Type Select the frame type. Printer Name Enter the printer name up to alphanumeric characters, hyphen, and underscore.

Printer Location Enter the printer location up to characters. Printer Information Enter the printer information up to characters. Proxy Server Port Number Enter the proxy server port number input range: 1 to Work Group Enter the work group name up to 15 characters excluding " Zone Name Enter the zone name up to 31 characters. Current Zone Displays the current zone.

Detail The setting that must be specified vary depending on the authentication method. Port Number Enter the server port number input range: 1 to Binary Division Sets whether to divide the large-sized data into smaller-sized ones and transfer them. If a certificate is installed, the following page appears. Note The displayed information varies depending on the registered informa- tion.

Click [Setting] to change certificate information, delete certificates, or create new certificates. This display varies with a state when you access this Network Scanner. A page for selecting the function appears.

A certificate can be registered or obtained. Click [Setting]. A text input page appears. Copy the issued certificate information and paste in the text. If no operation is performed within the specified time, the administrator or user is automatically logged out.

Admin Logout Time Enter the auto logout time input range: 1 to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 minutes. Port Number Enter the port number input range: 1 to Change the scanning settings, and then try scanning again. Search Timeout The connection to the server was cut. Change the scan settings and scan again.

Connection timeout The connection to the server was disconnected.
