The scanning functions can be used to temporarily store the scanned data in the internal memory of the machine and transmit the data in an e-mail message over the network or up- load the data to a file server.
The FTP server ad- dress, login password, and other information are entered from the touch panel of this machine. The data files uploaded to the FTP server can be downloaded from a com- puter on the network. The name of the destination computer, login password, and other informa- tion are entered from the touch panel of this machine. The data can be used in other applications.
The file name can be entered from the touch panel of the machine. Set other items as necessary. Page Setting The From Address Detail For details on registering destinations and specifying settings, refer to the sections listed below.
The From address is the address that indicates the sender when data is sent. Specifying Program Settings The destination and scan settings can be registered together as a single pro- gram.
This is convenient for frequently scanning documents and sending data under the same conditions. Reminder The machine can be connected via a parallel or USB connection option- al.
However, be sure to connect to the network to use the scanner func- tion. Network Connection Connect a UTP cable category 5 or later recommended from the network to the Ethernet connector on the machine.

Page Scanning Documents Scanning Documents While the machine is in Power Save mode, the indicator on the [Power Save] key lights up in green and the touch panel goes off. Specifies basic settings to use the machine on a network. Page Other Related Settings Other Related Settings Though the setup procedure is not covered in this manual, there are items that are partially related to the scanning functions and network connection.
For [1 One- Touch Registration], press the [1] key in the keypad. Page The Scan screen appears. Otherwise, cancel the Utility mode by touching [Close] in each screen until the screen for the Copy, Fax, Scan or Box mode appears. The Administrator Setting screen appears. Up to destinations can be registered when the optional hard disk drive is installed, and up to des- tinations can be registered if the optional hard disk drive is not installed.
E-Mail Destinations E-mail addresses can be registered. Touch [Index] and touch the desired button. The Register FTP screen appears.
Touch [Name] and type in the name using the keyboard that appears on the screen. Touch [OK]. Touch [Host Address]. Touch [File Path] and type in the file path using the keyboard that ap- pears on the screen. If the first character of the name is a letter, the first character is auto- matically registered as the indexing character.

The Box destinations can be used when the optional hard disk drive is installed. Touch [4 User Box]. The User Box screen appears.
Up to groups can be registered. Up to destinations can be regis- tered to one group. To register a group destination In the Scan screen, touch [2 Group]. Refer to page for more de- tails. The Group screen appears. The group destination is registered. Only one destination can be regis- tered in a program.
Up to destinations can be registered in program des- tinations, including fax program destinations. If the optional hard disk drive is not installed, up to destinations can be registered. To register a program destination In the Scan screen, touch [3 Program]. Page Note To cancel changes to the setting, touch [Cancel].
Subject E-Mail subjects can be registered. Touch [1 Subject]. Detail To check the registered setting, touch the button for the desired subject, and then touch [Details]. To delete the registered setting, touch the button for the desired subject, and then touch [Delete]. The settings that were registered when the data was sent can be selected.
Touch [2 Text]. Detail To check the registered setting, touch the button for the desired text, and then touch [Details]. To delete the registered setting, touch the button for the desired text, and then touch [Delete]. Touch [Address Book Default Index]. Touch [Address Type Symbol Display].

Subject E-Mail subjects can be registered.

Specify the desired settings. The NetWare settings are applied. Status The status of the connected NetWare server can be verified. Support Operation Sets the operation support information. Support Operation Specify the response to an inquiry of whether each function is supported in IPP communications. Touch [Printer Name].
The Printer Name screen appears. Type in the printer name up to characters. The printer location is set, the Printer Information screen appears again. Touch [Printer Information]. The printer information is set, the Printer Information screen appears again.
The Print URI screen appears. The FTP settings are applied. If the port number is set to an inappropriate value, there may be interfer- ence in the network. The SMB settings are applied. Note To cancel changes to the setting, touch [Cancel]. Printer Name Sets the name of this machine that appears on the Apple- Talk network.
Search settings can also be specified. The LDAP function is set. If the LDAP server settings are not specified correctly, network failure may occur. The selected condition is set. Use the keyboard that appears in the touch panel to type in the name up to 64 characters. The LDAP server registration and authentication are set. The available authentication methods are as follows: Item Description [anonymous] An authentication method that does not require the user name and password [Simple] A simple authentication method that requires the user In addition, authentication settings for logging on to the STMP server can be specified.
The SMTP server information is set. Enter the host address IP address 1. The User ID screen appears. Type in the user ID up to 63 characters. The Domain Name screen appears. Up to 10 subjects that can be used when sending e-mail can be registered. Select the subject number you wish to register or edit. Up to 10 text messages that can be used when sending e-mail can be reg- istered.
Enter the text, and click [Apply]. Select whether or not NTP is enabled. If address book registration by users is disabled, the address book registration menu appears.
Importing Click [Browse Exporting Click [Export]. User Setting Specify whether to permit destination registration by users. Manual Destination Input Specify whether to permit manual entry of the addresses. Speed Specify the transmission speed. Access restrictions can be applied by specifying the host IP address. A certificate can be registered or obtained. Click [Setting]. A text input page appears. Copy the issued certificate information and paste in the text. If no operation is performed within the specified time, the administrator or user is automatically logged out.
